
Rutgers Women Finish Tied for 6th at Yale Intercollegiate

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (September 22, 2013) –Rutgers women’s golf placed tied for sixth with a 918 (308-302-308) score at the 17-team Yale Intercollegiate, played Friday through Sunday at The Course at Yale. Sophomore Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) paced the Scarlet Knights, carding a 226 (78-77-71) to finish tied for 16th in the 91-player field.
Moyal’s even par 71 on Sunday marked the second-best round of day and helped RU improve two positions in the final standings.
Sophomore Jackie Mullens (Brookside, N.J.) joined Moyal among the top 25 competitors. She shot a 231 (77-75-79) to finish tied for 24th.
Freshman Maddy Gedeon (Roseville, Calif.) , sophomore Gabrielle Sacheli (Pittsford, N.Y.) and freshman Taylor Clark (Sterling Heights, Mich.) comprised the rest of the Rutgers scorecard. Gedeon tied for 47th with a 238 (82-76-80), Sacheli tied for 53rd with 239 (76-74-89) and Clark tied for 55th with a 240 (77-85-78).
Tournament host Yale captured the team title with an 874(292-292-290). The Bulldogs bested second place Xavier by 19 strokes. Individually, Yale’s Elisabeth Bernabe was the individual champion with a one-over par 214 (69-72-73).
Rutgers, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, returns to the links Sept. 27-28 at the Penn State Invitational.
