
Rutgers Women's Golf Places 8th at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, PA (September 8, 2013) – Rutgers women’s golf placed eighth with a 961 (319-331-311) total at the Bucknell Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday at the Bucknell Golf Course. Sophomore Gabrielle Sacheli (Pittsford, N.Y.) paced the Scarlet Knights, carding a 231 (74-83-74) to finish tied for 8th in the 90-player field.
Sacheli was the tournament leader in birdies, with eight to her credit. She also was plus eight in par four scoring, the second best mark among all entries.
The event was the first of the fall season for Rutgers. The RU competing five was comprised of four sophomores and one true freshman.
Rookie Taylor Clark (Sterling Heights, Mich.), competing in her first collegiate event, performed well. She shot a 245 (85-80-80) to place tied for 37th. Clark was plus five in par three scoring and had four birdies.
Sophomores Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.), Racquel Zurick (West Trenton, N.J.) and Jackie Mullens (Brookside, N.J.) comprised the rest of the Rutgers scorecard. Moyal tied for 44th with a 247 (82-85-80), Zurick tied for 49th with a 250 (85-88-77) and Mullens tied for 58th with a 253 (78-83-92).
William & Mary won the Invitational with a 912 (310-302-300), ten strokes better than Columbia and Seton Hall, which both totaled 922.
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, return to the links Sept. 20-22 at the Yale Intercollegiate in New Haven, Conn.
