Rowing Announces Inaugural B1G Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 1, 2014) - The Rutgers rowing team has announced its 2014-15 season schedule. The Scarlet Knights enter their inaugural season of competition in the Big Ten Conference, where RU will race among the elite rowing programs in the nation.
2014-15 Schedule
"Our first Big Ten test will come in the second week of April racing the double-dual against two different Big Ten schools at Ohio State. It will be a good measure of where we stand five weeks out from the Big Ten Championships," said head coach Max Borghard. "We get to conclude our season in Indianapolis at the Big Ten Championships, where we will get to compete against the best schools in the country. The team has already been setting the tone in practices, working hard and competing to elevate our performance and expectations."
The fall slate features three events, beginning with the Navy Day Regatta on Oct. 11 in Philadelphia on the Schuylkill River. The Scarlet Knights will then compete at the Head of the Charles on Sunday, Oct. 19 in Boston. Rutgers wraps up fall competition on Saturday, Nov. 8 "On the Banks" with the Rutgers Classic on the Raritan River.
The spring schedule is comprised of five races, including a tri-scrimmage between Princeton and URI on Saturday, March 21 on the Raritan River to kick off the inaugural Big Ten campaign. Two weeks later on Saturday, April 11, the Scarlet Knights open the year with a Big Ten double dual against Michigan and Michigan State on the Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio.
From there RU will make the trip to Philadelphia to race against St Joseph's and Navy on Saturday, April 18. The squad closes dual competition with tri-race versus Holy Cross and MIT on Saturday, April 25 in Worchester, Mass. RU will once again take part in the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 3, which will mark the Scarlet Knights' final tune-up before competing in their first Big Ten Championships. Races are set for May 16-17in Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Ind.
