Rowing Competes at 50th Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Oct. 21, 2014) - The Rutgers women's rowing team competed at the 50th Head of the Charles Regatta Saturday in Cambridge, Mass., rowing in both the Women's Club Four and Club Eight events.
Rutgers' Varsity 8 posted the best finish of the two boats, finishing 16th out of 34 boats with a time of 17:31.40. The Scarlet Knights' Varsity 4 finished 21st out of 61 boats with a time of19:39.84.

"This was the 50th running of the Head of the Charles, which is the largest rowing event, racing three miles where spectators are lined on the shore from start to finish," said head coach Max Borghard. "The team really stepped it up this weekend, and their performance was reflective of the way they have been practicing this fall. Both the eight and the four were able to place high enough to guarantee entry to the Head of the Charles next year. We are looking to wrapping up strong with the final race of the fall season at home."
The RU lineups from the Varsity 4 and 8 that competed at the Head of the Charles are listed below. The Scarlet Knights close the fall season on Saturday, Nov. 8 with the Rutgers Classic in New Brunswick, N.J.
