TEAMNOTES

  • Rutgers earned its first conference victory as a member of the Big Ten Conference with a 26-24 victory over Michigan. The Scarlet Knights previously won 13 games over Big Ten opponents in non-conference play, with the most recent coming Sept. 9, 2006 over Illinois at home by the score of 33-0.
  • Tonight's attendance of 53,327 marked the fifth sellout since High Point Solutions Stadium was expanded in 2009 and the third largest crowd in stadium history. It was the second sellout in as many Big Ten home games and 12th home crowd of more than 50,000 in program history. (53,774 vs. PSU)
  • It was the first meeting between the two oldest FBS programs. Rutgers has now played 1,294 games in its history, while Michigan is up to 1,273.
  • Rutgers has won at least five of its first six games in a season for the third time in four years. That feat has been achieved in two of the three seasons under Kyle Flood.
  • In the Flood era, Rutgers is now 18-2 when scoring at least 20 points, 16-3 when leading after three quarters and 11-1 when having more passing yards than the opponent. Tonight marked the 20th career win for Flood.
  • Rutgers leads the nation with five blocked kicks in 2014. Since 2009, the Scarlet Knights lead the nation with 40 blocked kicks.
  • Rutgers has scored at least 19 points in the first half in five of the six games this season.
  • Rutgers has made at least one field goal in 12 straight games.
  • The offense has scored touchdowns 10 times on plays originating outside the red zone.
  • Rutgers has had at least three sacks in each game this season. The Scarlet Knights have 24 sacks on the season and entered the game tied for the national lead in sacks.
  • Rutgers has now scored 82 of its 177 points this season in the second quarter (46 percent).
  • Rutgers has led at the half in each game this season.

PLAYER NOTES

QB Gary Nova

  • Nova passed for a career-high 404 yards, the third-highest total in a game in program history. Mike Teel owns the single-game school record with 447 yards passing vs. Louisville in 2008.
  • He now owns six games with at least 300 yards through the air.
  • Rutgers is 20-4 in Nova starts where he throws one or zero interceptions.
  • Nova completed a pass to nine different receivers for the second time this year.
  • Nova had a career-long rush of 20 yards in the second quarter on a third down.
  • Nova threw for 282 yards in the first half, the best opening half in his career. His best half overall was 298 yards in the second at UConn in 2011.

WR Andrew Turzilli

  • Turzilli had his first career multi-touchdown game in the win. He had a score of at least 80 yards for the second consecutive week.

WR Janarion Grant

  • Grant finished with three receptions for a career-high 87 yards. The Florida native also totaled two rushes for 23 yards.

DB Davon Jacobs

  • Jacobs recorded his first career interception in the second half win over the Wolverines. He finished the game with two tackles.

DE Kemoko Turay

  • Turay blocked his NCAA leading third kick of the season. Michigan attempted a 56-yard field goal with 3:01 remaining in the game when Turay blocked the kick.
