Rutgers took on Michigan State for the first time as a conference foe, but the sixth time overall. The series is now tied at three dating back to 1988.
The game-time temperature of 38 degrees was the second-coldest of the season for a Rutgers game. It was 36 degrees at kickoff last week at home versus Indiana.
LB Quentin Gause recovered two fumbles in the game for Rutgers. DL Kenneth Kirksey forced the first one, while the second one was a loose ball. The last Scarlet Knight with multiple fumble recoveries in a game was Ka'Lial Glaud in 2011 versus Ohio.
DL David Milewski had a career-high nine tackles in the game, including his fourth sack of the season. He has a career-best 49 tackles on the season.
WR John Tsimis had four receptions in the first half on his way to a career-best five in the game. The sophomore is up to 18 catches on the season.
WR Leonte Carroo has had at least one reception in each of the last 18 games he has played.
K Kyle Federico has converted a field goal in 10 of Rutgers' 11 games this season. He now stands alone in the RU record books with 30 career field goals.
LB Steve Longa led Rutgers with 11 tackles in the game. He has paced the defense in tackles in 16 of 24 career games and has reached double digits in stops nine times as a Scarlet Knight.
WR Janarion Grant had 81 kickoff return yards in the game to bring his career total to 1,239, ranking seventh in school history.
