Rowing Finishes 1-2-3 at Rutgers Classic

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The Rutgers women's rowing team wrapped up its fall season Saturday at the Rutgers Classic on the Raritan River. The Scarlet Knights raced four Varsity 4s against Lehigh in a dominant outing on the water in their final competition of the calendar year.
Two RU Novice 8s competed in their first collegiate race against the Mountain Hawks one Novice 8, earning valuable experience moving into the spring season.
In the Varsity 4 race, Rutgers secured the top three spots. The Rutgers B boat finished first with a time of 17:39, the Rutgers A finished second with a time of 18:18 and the Rutgers C clocked in at 18:31 for a third-place finish.
Finishing sixth was the Rutgers D boat, which recorded a time of 19:07. Lehigh's best finishes were in the fourth and fifth place slots, as the Lehigh A crossed the finish line in 18:44 for a fourth-place finish and the Lehigh B in 19:00 for a fifth-place finish.
The Lehigh C and D boats finished seventh and eighth, respectively, with times of 20:26 and 22:49.
The Scarlet Knights open the 2015 season with a tri-scrimmage against URI and Princeton on March 21 in New Brunswick, N.J. RU's first competition as a member of the Big Ten will come on April 11 in Columbus, Ohio, when the squad takes to the water against Michigan and Michigan State.
