
Laney Named to B1G Honor Roll

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Senior forward Betnijah Laney (Clayton, Del.) has been named to the Big Ten Women's Basketball Honor Roll for the second straight week, it was announced on Monday by the conference office.
Rutgers improved to 6-0 on the year as Laney averaged 19.3 points and 13.7 rebounds in three Scarlet Knight wins last week. She has opened the season with six-straight double-doubles and has notched 21 double figure scoring and rebounding efforts in her career.
Laney added in 22 points, two shy of her career-high, and hauled in 11 rebounds in RU's 81-53 win at Wagner. She followed with 17 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in a 60-44 victory over Colgate. Her 18 rebounds were the most by a Scarlet Knight since 2011. Laney also poured in 19 points and 12 boards in the Scarlet Knights' 100-44 win over Colgate, helping RU to the 100-point mark for the first time since 1995.
On the week, Laney shot 66 percent (25-of-38) and also registered seven assists and six steals.
On the season, she is averaging 15.3 points and 13.8 rebounds per game. The senior Scarlet Knights is third nationally in rebounding and leads the nation in double-doubles.
The Rutgers women's basketball team, who moved up to No. 18 in the Associated Press Poll, welcomes No. 6 North Carolina to the RAC on Thursday, Dec. 4 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on BTN with Deb Antonelli and Ed Cohen on the call.
