Perrotti Takes Third at Cliff Keen

LAS VEGAS - A 3-1 decision with more than three minutes of riding time gave No. 3-seeded 157-pounder Anthony Perrotti (Roseland, N.J) a third-place finish at the 2014 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Saturday.
As a team, the Scarlet Knights finished in 11th place with 54 points.

After losing an 11-6 decision against No. 2 seed James Green (Nebraska) in the semifinals, Perrotti advanced to the third place match due to a medical forfeit by Steven Hernandez of Boise State.
Following a scoreless opening period against No. 7 seed Justin Staudenmayer (Brown), Perotti reversed to start the second and never looked back, riding out Staudenmayer en route to a 3-1 win.
Redshirt freshman 141-pounder Anthony Ashnault (South Plainfield, N.J.) also placed for the Scarlet Knights, finishing fourth. The No. 5-seeded Ashnault dropped a tough third-place match against the third-seed Nick Dardanes (Minnesota), succumbing to a counter after a shot attempt on the edge in a 6-3 loss.
He bounced back from a loss to No. 1-seeded Logan Stieber (Ohio State) to top Geo Martinez of Boise State, 10-8, in the consolation semifinals.
133-pounder Scott DelVecchio (South Plainfield, N.J.), 149-pounder Ken Theobold (Toms River, N.J.) and 174-pounder Phil Bakuckas (Hammonton, N.J.) all finished one match shy of placing at the tournament.
RU wrestles next at the "Grapple at the Garden" on Sunday, Dec. 21 in New York, N.Y. The Scarlet Knights will face Army and Davidson in the dual event.
