Flood Names Teel and Zuckerman Graduate Assistant Coaches

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 24, 2014) – Rutgers head football coach Kyle Flood announced Monday that Mike Teel and Michael Zuckerman have joined the coaching staff as graduate assistants. Teel will work with the wide receivers while Zuckerman will assist in coaching the special teams.
Teel returns to his alma mater after serving two stints on the coaching staff at Kean University as the Cougars’ quarterbacks coach. He also spent time coaching at Wagner in 2012.
One of the all-time greats in school history, Teel finished his career as a three-year starter and two-time captain under center for the Scarlet Knights. He ended his career as Rutgers’ all-time leader in passing yards (9,398) and touchdowns (59). He still owns the single-game school records for passing yards (447) and touchdowns (7) in Rutgers’ 63-14 victory over Louisville in 2008.
The 2008 PapaJohns.com Bowl MVP, Teel is the only quarterback in school history to lead RU to three bowl victories. Following his collegiate career, Teel was a sixth round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2009 NFL Draft. Teel’s NFL career included time with the Seahawks, New England Patriots and Chicago Bears.
Zuckerman enters his second year at Rutgers after serving on the player development staff in 2013.
Prior to Rutgers, Zuckerman spent three years working with the football program at the University of Miami as a student. He earned his start as a volunteer operations assistant before serving as a volunteeroffensive assistant for the Hurricanes. Zuckerman got his start in coaching at New Rochelle High School in 2008, working with the offensive and defensive lines as an assistant coach.
A 2012 graduate of the University of Miami, Zuckerman was a four-year member of the New Rochelle football team, including serving as captain as a senior.
