MONTEREY, Calif. – Rutgers women’s golf is third with a 649 (329-320) team total after the opening two rounds of the six-team Monterey Bay Invitational, played Sunday and Monday at Del Monte Golf Club. Freshman Taylor Clark (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and sophomore Gabrielle Sacheli (Pittsford, N.Y.) are both tied for 10th in the 34-player field with 160 totals entering Tuesday’s final round.
Sophomore Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) is also among the top 20 competitors, tied for 20th with a 165, after shooting a team-best 78 on Monday.
Sophomore Christina Paulsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) and freshman Maddy Gedeon (Roseville, Calif.) comprise the rest of the competing five. Paulsen is 22nd with a 166 (87-79) and Gedeon is tied for 23rd with a 167 (85-82).
The 54-hole event, hosted by Drake, also features Central Oklahoma, Columbia, CSU Bakersfield and Northern Colorado. It began on Sunday and concludes with a 9:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start on Tuesday.
Sophomore Racquel Zurick (West Trenton, N.J.), competing as an individual, is tied for 10th with a 160 (77-83). Jackie Mullens (Brookside, N.J.) is 28th with a 174 (83-91).
Columbia leads through 36 holes with a 613 (303-310), 23 strokes better than second place Central Oklahoma. Individually, Columbia’s Monique Ishikawa is atop the leaderboard with a 150 (76-74).
