Head Coach Kyle Flood
(Ref. Opening Statement)
"Let me start by saying that I respect that group that's on the other sideline. As I said earlier in the week, Coach Monken is somebody that I've competed against for a lot of years now, and he's as good as there is. There was no question when we came in here that it was going to be a 60-minute battle. We have tremendous respect for what they do on the field, and even more respect for when they're not on the field. My compliments to West Point and the Army football team. I'm really proud of this team. I put the starting lineups out there and No. 8 (Josh Hicks) is starting at strong safety, 26 (Deonte Roberts) is at linebacker and 79 (Zack Heeman) and 71 (Marcus Applefield) are on the offensive line with Chris Muller his first game at center. I'm really proud of the unselfish nature of the players on this team, and I probably couldn't have enough good things to say about Josh Hicks who goes from being the MVP of our bowl game last year as a tailback and tells me he will play anywhere on the team if he can help us win."

(Ref. Making move to put Josh Hicks on defense)
"It's something Josh and I spoke about earlier in the year, but I didn't think the timing was right. I approached the thought again with him as we were getting ready for this game and looking at who would be available. It's tough to play in this game on defense if you don't practice. Guys that are a little bit banged up and don't get to see it in practice, and the way we do it in practice is still not the speed you're going to see it in the game. But if you don't at least have that it's really hard."

(Ref. Impact of Martin's big run early in 2nd half)
"I thought it was a big play. I think running the ball effectively is one of the things you have to have to try to control the game when you play these option teams."

(Ref. Paul James' performance)
"I thought he was back to 100 percent, and he looked that way. When he's 100 percent, he's a threat."

(Ref. Thoughts on Applefield and Heeman)
"Marcus had the one false start, but I'd probably be disingenuous to think that there wouldn't be a couple more on the road in a hostile environment in your first start as freshmen. I'm really excited about what they did. Now, we'll look at it on film and it won't be as pretty as we think it is even though the numbers are good. I thought they were really composed through the game. If you run for 200 yards and don't give up any sacks, you're going to win a lot of games."

(Ref. Allowing big passing plays on defense)
"The one where Blessuan Austin contested, it looked like he was right there. Edgar Poe made a nice play, jumped over him and went down the sideline on us. Even the one with Quentin Gause wasn't quite as contested, it was more of a play-action pass. It's the dilemma of playing the option. Everybody is running to the dive at the quarterback and the pitch and you've got to be on your keys all the time or else they're going to run by you."

(Ref. Would back-to-back wins to end the year change the feel of this season?"
"I think winning helps everything; it always helps. For us, we take it one week at a time, and now we've got one more one-week season. We'll do everything we can to be 1-0, and at the end of it we'll look at it and see where it puts us. I hear a lot of things about 5-and-7 teams being in bowl games, but I know there's a lot of games that have to be played so I'm not focused on that right now."

(Ref. Criticalness of Hicks' interception)
"I thought it was really critical. You're talking about a two possession game or a on-possession game. One of the things in the second half that I think really helped us is that they only had three possessions. You get the interception then go on an 11-play drive to end the game, the combination of the two things become big. If you don't get the interception and they score a touchdown, now you're dealing with an onside kick and you've got a lot more outcomes that you could be looking at."

Rutgers Sophomore QB Chris Laviano
(Ref.: the running game)
"You still have to manage within my rules, so I thought the game was smooth and we played really well."

(Ref.: the in-and-out of wide receivers)
"Everyone on the team can make plays, whoever we put in the game we trust fully."

(Ref.: play of Josh Hicks)
"He's a real team player. Our relationship is so close because we pretty much are involved together all the time. I sit next to him in the team meeting room and he's always for the team. He got rewarded for his sacrifice today and he made a really nice play."

(Ref.: the changing of the offensive line)
"We're pretty confident in those young guys. They have a lot of talent. It's all a matter of communicating and making sure everyone was on the same page, which they were. All day they played great."

(Ref.: the preparation with the center)
"Chris has always been the second-string center. I have been taking snaps with him since training camp, but obviously the role got heavier during the week. We have chemistry, with communication and calls at the line and then momentum on the snaps and whatnot."

Rutgers Junior WR Janarion Grant
(Ref.: the feeling of coming away with the win)
"It feels great. It's been awhile since we got a win and that's what we've been wanting to do all along. We're proud. I'm very proud of my team, proud of what we did to come out here and get the win. It's a great feeling."

(Ref.: on getting the ball in his hands early on)
"It feels good. I'm very happy that that happened, just to show what I can do. All around it feels good to have a win. I just want to score. I'd like the ball in my hands a little bit more but once I get it in my hands I just try to do what I can do."

(Ref.: whether or not the game felt different with more carries on the ground)
"It was kind of a different game, working on blocking and being able to make holes open up for the running back. Being able to do that, have our team continue to have the ball in our hand, running the clock down and everything."
