FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Senior Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.) earned Second Team All-American status on Friday night in the long jump at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
It is Farquharson's third All-America distinction having earned Second Team All-American with the 4x100m relay team and Honorable Mention All-American with the 4x400m relay team at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Farquharson finished in 16th place, suffering a hamstring injury on her second jump. The senior Scarlet Knight reached 5.54m (18' 2 ¼") on her first jump before being hampered by the injury on her next two attempts.
The injury also forced Farquharson to scratch from the 200m semifinals.
"Unfortunately injuries happen in sport. Despite the ending to the season, Gabrielle had a wonderful indoor season highlighted by her remarkable accomplishments," said head coach James Robinson. "It was an honor for Coach Lou (Tomlinson) and myself to coach Gabrielle this season and we look forward to her return to competition in 2015-16."
Farquharson wraps up a memorable indoor season which saw her capture the first ever Rutgers Big Ten title by winning gold in the 200m. She reset the indoor record three times in the event during the course of the 2015 indoor season, which included her Big Ten title time of 23.50.
Farquharson also finished second in the Big Ten in the long jump by .01m, landing at a personal best 6.36m (20' 10 ½") and ranking 11th nationally. She also took third place in the 60m in setting another Rutgers school record. Farquharson clocked in at 7.38 in her bronze medal performance, only .02 behind the Big Ten champion and .002 second behind the runner-up.
