Doubleheader at Hofstra Called Off

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (March 25, 2015) - Entering the top of the fifth, the Rutgers softball team's contest at Hofstra was called off due to rain. The second game of the doubleheader was also cancelled.
Up until the game was erased, the Scarlet Knights had recorded six hits on the day.
After two and a half scoreless inning, Hofstra generated a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. However, Jackie Bates (Lincroft, N.J.) countered with a home run, bringing in Stephanie Huang (Paramus, N.J.) with her to cut RU's deficit to one at 3-2 in the top of the third.
Huang went on to bring in two runs with her second hit of the game, giving the Scarlet Knights the lead, 4-3, to open the fourth.The Pride jumped back in front, 6-4, with three runs in the bottom half of the inning before the game was halted.
Up next, Rutgers makes its second Big Ten trip of the season to Purdue for a three-game series starting on Saturday, March 27.
