Rosemont, Ill. -- Rutgers women's basketball junior Kahleah Copper (Philadelphia, Pa.) and senior Christa Evans (Jackson, N.J.) were among the winter sports student-athletes who were named to the Big Ten Academic All-Conference team it was announced on Wednesday.
The two Scarlet Knights were among the 735 winter sports student-athletes and the 68 women's basketball players recognized for their outstanding achievement in the classroom.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Copper, a criminal justice major, averaged 16.3 points per game as RU's leading scorer for the second straight season. She was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection by both the coaches and media.
Evans, a public health major, appeared in 32 games this season and 130 games in her four-year career. She is tied for fifth all-time in career appearances.
