WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. (April 11, 2015) -- The Rutgers women's tennis team dropped its match to No. 34 Purdue on Saturday afternoon at the Basham Courts.
Rutgers fell to an overall mark of 6-13 and a record of 0-10 in the Big Ten. Purdue improved to 12-5 and 5-3 in the league.
The Boilermakers opened the match by claiming the team doubles point. At the No. 2 doubles spot, the pair junior Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) and senior Lindsey Balsamo (Wall, N.J.) went wire-to-wire against Andjela Djokovic and Daniela Vidal, falling by the slim margin of 8-5.
Freshman Chloe Lee (Albuquerque, N.M.) showed her strength in singles action once again. After falling in the first set, 6-4, Lee battled to extra serves in the next set. However, the rookie fell by the score of 7-6 (7-3). Li also displayed determination at the No. 1 singles spot. Despite falling in the first set, 6-0, the junior fought back in the second round, however, she was edged 7-5 by her opponent.
The Scarlet Knights conclude their regular season slate on Saturday, April 12 at Indiana. The first serve is set for 10 a.m. ET.
