Athletics Golf Outing a Success
Jun 24 | Development
MONROE, N.J. - The 33rd annual Rutgers Athletics Golf Outing proved to be a rousing success during its move to a new venue, with more than 170 golfers taking to the greens and over $20,000 raised during the June 8 event.
The annual outing, which serves as an opportunity for friends and supporters of Rutgers Athletics to meet student-athletes, coaches and administrators, as well as share the fairways with their fellow Rutgers supporters, was held for the first time at the Forsgate County Club.
Proceeds from the event will support Rutgers Athletics and aid in the funding of student-athlete scholarships, facility improvements, and other athletic department priorities.
The golf portion of the outing featured shotgun starts on the Palmer and Banks course, with golfers participating in numerous contests throughout the day, including the Putting Contest presented by Emmet, Marvin & Martin, LLP; the Longest Drive Contest presented by Valiant Power Group, and the Closest to the Pin Contest presented by Bartley Healthcare. Golfers also had the opportunity to win a brand new Audi A3 as the New Jersey Audi Dealers sponsored Hole-in-One contests on both courses.
The Palmer shotgun was won by Pat Day Sr., Pat Day Jr., Craig Sulaitis, and Harvard Lee. Brian Leary, Mike O'Donovan, Terri Craig, and Chris Zarelli won the Banks shotgun.
The day was capped off by a dinner reception that included remarks from Rutgers Athletic Director Julie Hermann and head wrestling coach Scott Goodale.
