2016 Rutgers Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Schedules
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's track and field team released its 2016 indoor and outdoor schedules on Wednesday. The Scarlet Knights will host two meets this season, including the Rutgers Invitational featuring Fordham and Temple to kickoff the indoor season and the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships in April.
The indoor season gets underway at the Busch Bubble in the annual Rutgers Invitational on Jan. 8-9 with the Scarlet Knights welcoming Fordham and Temple to campus. RU will compete at the Great Dane Classic hosted by Albany on Jan. 16 and the Gotham Cup on Jan. 22. The month of January comes to a close with the Penn State National on Jan. 29-30.
February opens up with the Metropolitan Indoor Championships on Staten Island on Feb. 5. Action continues for RU with the Valentine's Invitational in Boston on Feb. 12, while on Feb. 20, the Scarlet Knights will send competitors to the prestigious Millrose Games at the Armory.
The indoor season wraps up with the Big Ten Indoor Championships at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio on Feb. 26-27, the ECAC Championships in Boston on Mar. 4-6 and the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama on March 11-12.
The outdoor season gets underway with the Bulls Invitational hosted by USF on March 17-18 and the Colonial Relays at the College of William and Mary on April 1-2.
Rutgers will be the host of the 2016 Metropolitan Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Bauer Track and Field Complex on April 8-9. The month continues with RU making appearances at the Lou Onesty Invitational hosted by Virginia on April 15-16 and the Scarlet Knights sending split squads to the Georgia Tech Invitational and Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational on April 22-23.
The championship season gets underway with Penn Relays held at Franklin Field on April 28-28 and continues with the Big Ten Outdoor Championships hosted by Nebraska on May 13-16. The NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida will take place May 26-28 and the NCAA Outdoor Championships will once again be held at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon on June 8-11.
