UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Rutgers women's golf is in fifth place with a 613 (304-309) total after the opening two rounds of the 39th annual Nittany Lion Invitational, played Saturday on the Penn State Blue Course. Sophomore co-captain Emily Mills (Colts Neck, N.J.), paced the Scarlet Knights, carding a four-over 148 (73-75) to enter Sunday's final round tied for fourth in the 54-player field.
Fellow sophomore Tatum Jackson (Mountain Brook, Ala.) also performed well on day one of RU's 2015-16 season. She shot a 155 (77-78) and is tied for 18th on the par 72, 6,355-yard course.
Seniors Racquel Zurick (West Trenton, N.J.) and Christina Paulsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) joined Mills and Jackson among the event's top 25 competitors. Zurick shot a 156 (79-77) and is 23rd, while Paulsen is tied for 24th with a 157 (76-81).
Freshman Astrid Aneman (Stockholm, Sweden) and senior Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.), who is competing as an individual, round out the Scarlet scorecard. Both are tied for 33rd with 159 totals.
The host Nittany Lions are in first place with an 11-over par 587 (294-293). After carding a 69 in round one, William & Mary's Alex Liu is atop the individual leaderboard with a three-under 141,
