TEAM NOTES
• Rutgers took on Illinois for the first time in the Big Ten game, but the third time overall. The Fighting Illini lead the series, 2-1, with the team splitting a pair of meetings at High Point Solutions Stadium.
• Illinois became the 10th Big Ten team to visit Rutgers since the Scarlet Knights joined the league in 2014.
• The Scarlet Knights fell to 53-30 all-time in Homecoming games. The program has staged Homecoming each year except one (1943) since 1933.
• The offense tallied 385 yards and ran 80 plays, both marking the most in a Big Ten game this season.
• Rutgers scored a touchdown on a two minute, 30 second drive to make it 10-of-12 touchdown scoring drives lasting under three minutes this season.
• RU totaled 23 first downs, its most against FBS competition this season. Of those, 11 came via the run, 11 through the pass and one after an opposing penalty.
• The Scarlet Knights went 9-of-16 on third down to top 50 percent in a game for the first time since going 12-for-20 at Indiana in 2015.
• The defense had two sacks to bring the season total to 13, which is one fewer than the 14 accumulated in 12 games last season.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
TE Nick Arcidiacono
• Hauled in first career touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.
• Had two tackles for first career stops.
DB Blessuan Austin
• Recorded second career interception in the first quarter. It was only the second interception thrown by Illinois this season.
DL Darnell Davis
• Registered first career sack and led the defensive line with six tackles in the game.
RB Robert Martin
• Totaled 95 yards on the ground to top 90 rushing yards for the second time this year versus a Big Ten opponent.
WR Andre Patton
• Recorded a 38-yard reception to match career-long reception which also happened at Indiana last season.
• Had a season-high 90 receiving yards to lead the team.
QB Giovanni Rescigno
• Saw action in the second half and completed 10 passes on 18 attempts with first career touchdown toss. Had 120 yards passing in second career appearance.
• Gained 51 yards on the ground and netted 37 overall.
LB Deonte Roberts
• Led the team with nine tackles and owns 52 this season to pace the defense.
WR John Tsimis
• Tied career high with five receptions, also doing that at Michigan State in 2014.
