Tennis Sends Four to ITA Regional Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers tennis begins play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Yale, from Thursday, Oct. 20, through Monday, Oct. 24 in New Haven, Connecticut. Senior Farris Cunningham, juniors Chloe Lee and Mingxiu Du and freshman Jacqueline Cochrane will all see action during regional play.
Qualifying Round Results | Main Singles Draw | Main Doubles Draw
Three Scarlet Knights will compete in the Main Singles Draw after Cochrane and Du advanced out of the qualifying singles tournament. In first round action, Cochrane will play Seton Hall's Anna Fajnorova, Du sees UConn's Emma Alderman and Lee will go against Sacred Heart's Olivia Podsiebierski.

On Thursday, Cochrane and DU both collected two wins to advance to the Main Singles Draw which begins Friday. Cochrane registered a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Army's Rugile Valiunaite, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 win against Binghamton's Annie DiMuro to advance to the main Draw.
Du captured a hard fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win against UConn's Jacquelyn Fitz before she downed Boston University's Remi Ramos, 6-2, 6-0, to advance.
Rutgers also has two doubles teams consisting of Du and Lee and Cunningham and Cochrane that compete in the main doubles draw during weekend play. Du and Lee compete against Fordham, while Cochrane and Cunningham go against Stony Brook in the opening round.
In their last time out, the Scarlet Knights enjoyed a successful trip to the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational from Oct. 7 through Oct. 9 in Annapolis, Maryland. Cunningham and Cochrane captured the "B" doubles flight with a 6-2 decision over Navy to highlight action at the tournament.
