TEAM NOTES
- Rutgers went 10-for-19 on third downs and is 19-for-35 in the last two weeks.
- Rutgers fell behind 18 points (21-3) in the first quarter and rallied to take the lead in the fourth quarter at 32-31.
- The offense totaled 375 yards to reach at least that mark in three of the five Big Ten games this season.
- The defense had two stops in the red zone and now has nine on the year.
- This was the first meeting between the teams on the gridiron. The Scarlet Knights have now played every other Big Ten opponent in a league game except Northwestern and Purdue.
- Rutgers played its eighth-straight game to start a season without a bye for the first time since 2008.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
PK David Bonagura
- Converted a 39-yard field goal to give Rutgers the lead in the fourth quarter. It was the first go-ahead RU field goal in the fourth quarter since Kyle Federico last year at Indiana.
RB Justin Goodwin
- Recorded second career receiving touchdown on a three-yard catch in the second quarter. Previously hauled in a score on a 50-yard screen pass at SMU in 2013.
- Made second start of the season at running back and totaled a season-high 97 rushing yards.
- Had career highs with six receptions for 52 yards.
WR Jawuan Harris
- Had an 18-yard receiving score in the fourth quarter for third touchdown of season. That total matches the number of home runs he hit in the spring as a baseball player.
DB Damon Hayes
- Registered first career interception and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown. It was the longest interception return by a Scarlet Knight since David Rowe had a 56-yard return in 2009 versus Texas Southern. The last Rutgers pick six came by Blessuan Austin on a 50-yard return last season at Wisconsin.
LB Isaiah Johnson
- Had first career fumble recovery on special teams.
LB Kevin Marquez
- Made a career-high nine tackles.
LB Trevor Morris
- Picked up a career-high 12 tackles. Has led the team in tackles twice this season.
WR Andre Patton
- Grabbed a 37-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter for team-leading fourth receiving touchdown of the season and nine of career.
- Led the team with 73 receiving yards.
QB Giovanni Rescigno
- Became just the eighth different quarterback to start a game for the Scarlet Knights since the start of the 2006 season (excluding the wildcat formation).
- Threw for 220 yards to mark the most by a Rutgers quarterback in their first career start since Chas Dodd had 322 versus Connecticut in 2010.
RB Trey Sneed
- Made first career catch with a two-yard reception.
