Cochrane, Cunningham Advance to Finals at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md.- Senior Farris Cunningham and freshman Jacqueline Cochrane advanced to the finals of their respective draws for Rutgers tennis to highlight day two of the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational Saturday afternoon in Annapolis, Maryland. The duo also paired up to move on to the B flight finals of doubles play.
Both Scarlet Knights will compete in the finals of the "C" and "D" flights, respectively, tomorrow afternoon.
Cochrane advanced with a 6-3, 0-6 (14) decision over Delaware's Annie Jaskulski and will face Buffalo's Anna Savchenko tomorrow in the C final. Cunningham used a 6-0, 1-6, 11-9 victory over Navy's Carlee Conway to move on to play Navy's Catalina Rico in the "D" final.
In doubles play, Cunningham and Cochrane downed FDU, 6-3, to move on to the final against Navy in the B flight.
In other singles action, both junior Mingxiu Du and freshman Katherine Muzik lost in the semifinals of the B flight and advanced to the back draw. Du suffered a 6-1, 7-5 defeat against Delaware's Denny LaMachia and Muzik lost to Buffalo's Mercedes Losada, 6-4, 6-1.
Rutgers returns to action Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for the third and final day.
