Women's X/C Takes Third at Metropolitan Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - The Rutgers women's cross country team placed third overall with Deanna DiLandro and Alexandra Juzwiak placing in the top 10 at the 2016 Metropolitan Championships held at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday.
Host Fordham won the women's 5K race with 41 points followed by Manhattan in second with 61 points and Rutgers in third with 75.
DiLandro and Juzwiak crossed the finish line in ninth and tenth respectively.
For DiLandro, her time of 19:26.3 was a new PR resetting her previous best of 20:04.9 at last season's Monmouth Invitational. Juzwiak immediately followed posting a finish of 19:27.9.
Also scoring for the Scarlet Knights were freshmen Emma Bergman (19:51.5) and Nadia Saponara (19:56.9) along with senior Kaitlyn Bedard (20:00.00).
The Rutgers women's cross country team is back to racing at 2016 Big Ten Cross Country Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Sunday, Oct. 30.
