PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Behind a near triple-double for sophomore guard Khadaizha Sanders, the Rutgers women's basketball team captured a 53-45 win and the program's 900th victory against in-state rival Seton Hall on Tuesday night at the RAC.

Sanders posted career-highs with 17 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds. Classmate Aliyah Jeune also added in a career-best with a team-high 18 points for the Scarlet Knights (3-9). Seton Hall (6-4) was led by JaQuan Jackson with a game-best 21 points.

Rutgers raced to a 10-2 lead to open the contest before Seton Hall tied up the frame 10-10 with 1:40 to go in the first quarter. After a jumper for Jeune returned the lead to RU, a SHU turnover sent the Scarlet Knights back down the court with 10 seconds on the clock. Jazlynd Rollins hauled in a rebound and beat the buzzer to set the Rutgers lead at 14-10 going into the second quarter.

A three-pointer for Jackson to open the second quarter followed by successful trips to the free throw line for the Pirates helped send SHU on a 19-4 run in the frame. Seton Hall carried a 29-18 lead into the locker room.

Returning from the break, Jeune drained one from downtown to ignite a 15-3 run to reclaim the lead for RU, 33-32, with 3:00 to go in the third stanza. SHU managed to pull within one but RU held a 38-37 edge at the end of three.

The teams entered a stalemate at the start of the fourth before the Pirates added the first four points to sneak back into the lead at 41-38 with 7:19 remaining in the game. A three-pointer for Sanders would tie up the score, 41-41, as the teams entered a point-for-point battle and traded the lead on two occasions.

A Jeune three-pointer put the Scarlet Knights back in front for good at 46-45 with 1:44 to go on the clock. Sanders closed out the game with seven points at the free throw line to secure the win for RU.

Rutgers remains home for its final nonconference game against Temple on Saturday, Dec, 17. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at the RAC
