Men's Track and Field Wins Indoor Met Championships

STATEN ISLAND (Feb. 5, 2016) -- The Rutgers men's track and field team captured the 2016 Metropolitan Indoor Championship title on Friday as the Scarlet Knights produced nine event titles and 11 IC4A qualifying marks.
RU collected 183.5 team points to secure the win. Manhattan placed second with 145.5 team points, followed by Southern Connecticut State with 100 team points.
Senior Rajee Dunbar (Arlington, Va.) captured wins in the 60m and 200m. Dunbar produced a time of 6.82 in the 60m, followed by a mark of 21.83 in the 200m. Both results were IC4A qualifying times.
Izaiah Brown (Amsterdam, N.Y.) finished first in the 400m, crossing the line with a time of 47.79. Brown's time was a IC4A mark, his sixth individual IC4A time of the young season.
In the 500m, Jermaine Griffith (Hamilton, N.J.) and Kyle Holder (Randolph, N.J.) finished one-two in the heat. Griffith produced a time of 1:03.92, while Holder finished with a mark of 1:05.07. Both were IC4A performances.
Freshman Chais Hill (Clemonton, N.J.) finished first in the 60m hurdles, coming in with a time of 8.21. It represented the third IC4A time for the rookie this season.
In relay action, Brown, Dunbar, Griffith and junior Brendan Jaeger (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) came in first in the 400m with a time of 3:14.72. It was just .01 seconds off of RU's best mark in the event this season and was a IC4A mark.
Jaeger, Holden, junior Brennan Crowle (Endwell, N.Y.) and sophomore Morgan Murray (Princeton, N.J.) placed first in the distance event, crossing the line with a IC4A time of 10:17.07.
In field events, senior Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) recorded a first-place distance of 25' 1.25" (7.65m) in the long jump, an IC4A mark. Senior Emeka Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) added a third-place mark of 23' 4.75 (7.13) in the event, also a IC4A distance.
Senior Joseph Velez (Providence, R.I.) recorded a IC4A distance of 62' 525 (19.03) in the weight throw, his first IC4A distance of the season.
Freshman Jordan Lorenzo (Newton, N.J.) tied for first in the high jump with a mark of 6' 6.25 (1.99m), while classmate Jairus Paul (Mahwah, N.J.) came in third in the triple jump with a distance of 46' 4 (14.12m).
The Scarlet Knights return to action Saturday, Feb. 13, when the Scarlet Knights compete at the Boston University Valentine's Invitational.
