EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The Rutgers tennis team closed out its five-match homestand with a 6-1 victory over Longwood Wednesday afternoon at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. The Scarlet Knights (5-5, 0-2) swept the doubles point and secured wins in five of their six singles matches.

In doubles play, seniors Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) produced a convincing 6-1 win in the No. 1 position against Longwood's Fallon Burger and Isis Gill-Reid. The duo of junior Ksenija Tihomirova (Riga, Latvia) and sophomore Chloe Lee (Albuquerque, N.H.) added a 6-3 victory in the No. 2 position against Anna Pelak and Mason Thomas, while senior Lindsey Kayati (Monroeville, N.J.) and sophomore Lee Levy (Haifa, Israel) won against Maria Coronel and Paloma Alatorre, 6-4.

Kayati now owns seven doubles wins this season to lead RU, including five victories with junior Farris Cunningham (Houston, Texas).

Li added a dominate 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 1 singles against Burger, her fifth singles victory of the season. Zein and Tihomirova also had wins in their respective positions to join Li with five wins in singles.

After falling behind in No. 2 singles to Anna Pelak, 4-6, Lee battled back with a 6-3 win in the second stanza. Lee then secured with victory with a 10-1 performance in the tiebreaker set.

Rutgers hits the road for a three-match road swing, beginning Saturday at Nebraska.
