Saunders Named B1G Sportsmanship Honoree

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Sophomore Bria Saunders (Parsippany, N.J.) was recognized as one of the Big Ten's women's outdoor track and field Sportsmanship Award recipients, it was announced on Tuesday by the conference office.
Saunders ran the anchor leg on the 4x100m relay team which produced a new Rutgers record. The sophomore Scarlet Knight helped RU to a time of 44.66, bettering the mark of 44.71 set in 2013 by a squad which eventually earned Second Team All-America status at the NCAA Championship.
Saunders also tied her PR in the 100m, logging a time of 11.77, and set a new personal best of 23.74 in the 200m. Additionally, she was also a member of Rutgers' 4x400m relay team.
The Big Ten Conference office recognizes student-athletes from each team as Sportsmanship Award Honorees. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the student-athletes must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
