Farquharson To Jump in Olympic Trials on Friday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Gabrielle Farquharson (Williamstown, N.J.), who recently wrapped up a stellar career at Rutgers, will vie for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team when she competes on Friday, July 1 in the long jump at U.S. Olympic Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
The long jump qualifying round will begin at 8:10 p.m. (ET) on Friday. Should Farquharson advance, she will jump in the finals round on Saturday, July 2 at 2:45 p.m.
The Scarlet Knight qualified for the trials after reaching a personal best 6.54m (21' 5.5") in the event at the Seminole Invitational during the outdoor campaign. Her mark is currently tied for 15th nationally.
Farquharson will be competing at Hayward Field, site of the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships, where she placed seventh in the long jump earning First Team All-American accolades, as well as Second Team All-America honors in the 100m and 200m.
In the long jump, Farquharson is a two-time all-american, as well as the 2014 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Champion, 2016 Big Ten outdoor runner-up and 2015 Big Ten indoor runner-up.
During her career "On The Banks", Farquharson earned seven all-america honors, concluding her time at Rutgers with nine Big Ten medals and nine school indoor and outdoor records. She was also named the 2016 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Track Athlete of the Year. Farquharson also holds the distinction of being Rutgers' first-ever Big Ten Champion when she captured gold in the indoor 200m in 2015.
