Greenham Third at Nittany Lion Invitational

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Rutgers women's golf is in fifth place with a 615 (304-311) total after the first two rounds of the nine-team Nittany Lion Invitational, played Saturday at the Penn State Golf Course. Redshirt sophomore Ashleigh Greenham is third in the 61-player field with a 145 (73-72) entering Sunday's final 18.
"The leaderboard is competitive and we have a great chance to move up in tomorrow's round," said Rutgers head coach Kari Williams. "It will take more consistent scoring from our entire lineup. I am happy with Ashleigh and Tatum (Jackson) heading into the final round sitting in the top 10."
The Scarlet Knights are one stroke behind fourth place Delaware, and are out-distancing William & Mary (620), Oklahoma City (624), Yale (627) and Bucknell (630). Host Penn State leads the field with a 590 (287-303), 14 strokes ahead of second place Richmond. Columbia is third with a 607.
Greenham is minus one on par fives, with 25 pars and five birdies, in her second event at RU after transferring from Arizona State.
"This course sets up well for my game," said Greenham. "It was a long, but enjoyable day. My goal was to rally during my final few holes and I was able to roll in some putts and card three birdies. I am looking forward to competing in the final round."
On the heels of her victory last weekend at the Rutgers Invitational, team captain Emily Mills also had a strong day one and is tied for 12th with a 152 (76-76). The junior is minus one in par five scoring with 24 pars.
Sophomore Astrid Aneman and freshmen Carrie-Ann Lee and Ana Cortes comprise the remainder of the RU scorecard. Aneman (78-83) and Lee (77-84) are tied for 42nd with 161 totals, while Cortes is tied for 48th with a 163 (83-80).
Junior Tatum Jackson, competing individually, is tied for eighth with a 150 (77-73) on the par 72, 6,306-yard course. She is even on par fives with 22 pars and five birdies.
