
Maeve Rossi Signs with Rutgers Women’s Golf

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Head Women's Golf Coach Kari Williams announced today that Maeve Rossi has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete at Rutgers University. A three-time member of the Italian Women's National Team, Rossi will take to the links as a true freshman for the Scarlet Knights in 2018-19.

"She is a talented and dedicated student-athlete, with a proven track record in a variety of international events against some of the top amateur golfers in the world. We expect Maeve to make an immediate impact on our program as we continue to raise our competitive performance and involvement in the community, while maintaining one of the highest program GPAs across Rutgers Athletics. We look forward to having Maeve join us 'On the Banks!"
A native of Milan, Italy, where attends the Istituto Zaccaria, Rossi was a member of the Italian Women's National Team in 2014, 2016 and 2017. Ranked 748th in the World Amateur Golf rankings, she won the Italian Golf Federation's Targa d'Oro this this past July, shooting 71-68-70.
Rossi reached the first round of match play at the Girls' British Open Amateur Championship in August, shooting 73-76 in stroke play. She also captured third place at the International Juniors of Belgium event in August (70-75-70-76).
Rossi will be the seventh student-athlete on the women's golf roster in 2018-19 that hails from outside the continental United States, joining Harriet Allsebrook (Shropshire, England), Astrid Aneman (Stockholm, Sweden), Lori Char (Waianae, Hawaii,) Ana Cortes (Bogota, Colombia), Ashleigh Greenham (London, England) and Carrie-Ann Lee (Hong Kong, China).
The Scarlet Knights ranked 106th nationally and 49th regionally with a 303.8 team scoring average in the Golfstat collegiate rankings this past fall. In the classroom, the team was recognized as one of the nation's top 25 programs in academic performance by the WGCA with a school-record five student-athletes named WGCA Division I All-America Scholars in 2016-17.
Rutgers' spring season begins at the Moon Invitational, Feb. 19-20, in Louisville, Ky.
