Women's Basketball Hits 100-point Mark in Dominate Victory Over Fairleigh Dickinson

Scarlet Knights Reach 100+ Point Mark For Only The Third Time in the C. VIvian Stringer Era

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Hitting the 100 mark for the first time since 2014 and third time under the guidance of head coach C. Vivian Stringer, Rutgers dominated Fairleigh Dickinson in 101-35 blowout on Sunday afternoon at the RAC. The Scarlet Knights improved to 10-2 overall on the season while extending their win streak to five.

While 13 Scarlet Knights contributed to the scoring, four finished in double-figures. Redshirt senior Tyler Scaife led the way with her seventh 20+ scoring performance of the season with a game-high 25 points. Redshirt sophomore Ciani Cryor followed with 15 points, including a career-high five steals.

Junior Caitlin Jenkins registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while senior Jazlynd Rollins rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points in the victory.

FDU was led by Kamrin Weimer with 12 points, including four buckets from beyond the arc.

Rutgers jumped to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter, holding FDU scoreless for nearly four minutes. FDU's Peniel M'Bikata ended the drought, igniting a 5-2 burst that was capped by a Natalie Zamora 3-pointer to cut into the margin 10-5 with 6:16 on the clock. Scaife responded with a 3-pointer of her own followed immediately by a steal for redshirt senior Kathleen Fitzpatrick to set up a Scaife jumper and a double-digit RU advantage at 15-5.

From there, Rutgers took control of the scoring with a 25-5 run to close the first frame. Cryor added her second 3-pointer of the stanza to cap the surge and give RU a 30-15 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Scarlet Knights continued to pull away on the scoreboard as a Kate Hill bucket from beyond the arc would give RU a 20-point edge at 37-17 with 5:35 to go until halftime. This ignited a 10-0 run for RU, setting the advantage at 47-17. Although FDU's Weimer attempted to halt the momentum with 3-pointer, Rollins tacked on back-to-back jumpers to give RU its largest lead of the first half, 51-20, at the break.

Overall, Rutgers outscored Fairleigh Dickinson 21-5 in the second quarter while shooting 83.3% (10-12) from the field in the frame.

FDU's Weimer opened the third quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers for a 6-2 burst for the Knights. However, graduate student Nigia Greene countered by attacking from beyond the arc, returning momentum to Rutgers for a 24-4 run and a blistering 80-30 lead by the end of the third stanza.

RU remained pedal-to-the-metal and continued to extend its advantage well into the fourth quarter. A Hill bucket from downtown gave the Scarlet Knights a new largest lead of the night at 97-33 with 3:05 on the clock.

With under two minutes to go in the contest, Fitzpatrick connected on two free throws to bring RU one-point away from 100. Jenkins would finish the feat driving to the basket in the game's final seconds to set the final margin of 101-35, a 66-point victory of margin for the Scarlet Knights.

Up next, Rutgers hosts its third-consecutive New Jersey foe with Princeton on Wednesday at the RAC.
