PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's basketball team fell to Indiana, 63-52, on Wednesday night at the RAC.

Rutgers held an edge throughout the first and second quarter, as the score sat at 29-27 RU at the break.

Returning from halftime, the game endured three ties and seven lead changes before the Hoosiers found a surge at the end of the third to help guide them to a double-digit lead at the start of the fourth.

While Rutgers would pull to within five midway through the final frame, it was not enough to complete a comeback.

Junior guard Shrita Parker paced Rutgers with 14 points, followed by junior forward Kandiss Barber with 12 points on the night.

Indiana was led by Amanda Cahill with a game-high 20 points. Tyra Buss, who was held to four first half points, followed with 17, while Jenn Anderson contributed 10 points.

The teams traded points to start the first stanza until a 7-0 run capped by 3-pointer for DaChe Williams, her first points as a Scarlet Knight, gave the RU a lead of 11-4 with 2:50 on the clock. Indiana responded with five consecutive points, but a 6-2 run for Rutgers buoyed by four points from Sanders pushed the Scarlet Knight edge up to 17-11 at the end of the first.

The Hoosiers kicked off second quarter outscoring RU, 11-7, to tie the score 24-24 with 4:16 to go in the half. The Scarlet Knights, however, went back out in front with five unanswered points capped by a 3-pointer by Aliyah Jeune. Indiana, however, countered with a shot from beyond the arc from Ria Gulley to set the margin at 29-27 leading into the halftime.

The Hoosiers moved into the lead, 31-29, in the opening minutes of the third frame, their first edge since posting the first two points of the contest. The Scarlet Knights quickly tied it up again at 31-31, igniting a rally that saw the teams trading a one-point lead. Indiana, however, was able to break away on the scoreboard by closing the quarter with six-straight points for a 46-39 advantage after three quarters of action.

Indiana pushed its lead to 52-39 in the early moments of the fourth quarter, its largest lead of night. Rutgers tried to mount a comeback with an 8-0 run. Six-straight points from Barber followed by a layup by Parker reduced the Scarlet Knight deficit to 52-47 with four minutes to go in the game.

Although RU managed to whittle it down to a five-point ballgame, Indiana went on to regrow its lead to double-digits with success at the free throw line. Buss went 7-of-8 from the charity stripe while the Hoosiers limited the Scarlet Knights to three points down the stretch.

Up next, Rutgers hits the road for Minnesota on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. ET. The Scarlet Knights then return home for a matchup with Purdue on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the RAC.
