CHICAGO - Junior Libby Groden of the Rutgers gymnastics team earned Second Team All-Big Ten status in a Monday release from the conference office. The all-arounder becomes the first Scarlet Knight to collect All-Big Ten gymnastics honors since the program joined the league.
"This is a well-deserved honor," head coach Louis Levine said. "Libby has been a constant presence in our lineup on every event."
Competing all-around in all 11 meets so far this season, Groden holds a 38.935 regional qualifying score (RQS) with a career-high of 39.075 set March 5 at Central Michigan. She has reached the 39.000 mark three times overall in 2017.
Groden, who already owns two NCAA Regional appearances, has produced 33 routines of at least 9.700, with season-bests of 9.850 on balance beam, 9.825 on floor exercise, 9.775 on uneven bars and 9.725 on vault. The visual arts major previously picked up Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2016.
