Softball Starts Big Ten Play at Indiana

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Continuing a 34-game road swing, the Rutgers softball team opens Big Ten play at Indiana with a three-game series from March 24-25. Due to inclement weather in the forecast, the teams will matchup twice on Friday at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
Friday's contest will be televised live on Big Ten Network with Jennie Ritter and Mike Wolf on the call.

RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers (7-19, 0-0 Big Ten) concluded a week-long trip in Florida with a 3-2 showing at the USF Clearwater Spring Break Classic. The Scarlet Knights picked up a win over Yale to open the tournament and closed the weekend with back-to-back wins over Florida A&M and North Dakota State.
Senior Carly Todd led the squad with a .429 batting average and 1.000 slugging percentage across the five contests, including three doubles, a triple and a home run. Junior Rebecca Hall batted .400 to follow, adding in a triple and a home run as well. Hall is tied for second in the Big Ten in home runs (8), seventh in RBIs (25), and fifth in slugging percentage (.732).
SCOUTING INDIANA
Indiana (14-14, 0-0 Big Ten) registered a 3-1 record at its Hoosier Classic, picking up a pair of wins over Bowling Green and splitting its contests with University of Illinois - Chicago.
Taylor Uden collected Big Ten Co-Player of the Week accolades after batting .727 on the weekend. Additionally, Uden posted a 1.636 slugging percentage, .813 on base percentage, two homers and five RBIs. In the circle, Tara Trainer has pitched a team-high 87.2 innings and owns a 3.11 ERA and 6-7 win-loss record.
SERIES VERSUS INDIANA
Dating back to 1977, Rutgers leads the all-time series against Indiana, 6-4. The Scarlet Knights have won five of the six matchups between the teams as conference foes. Most recently, RU claimed three over IU at home in 2016.
