Softball Continues Big Ten Play at No. 25 Ohio State

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Coming off a midweek victory at Hofstra, the Rutgers softball team returns to Big Ten action at No. 25 Ohio State with a three-game series from March 31-April 2.
Friday's contest will be televised live on Big Ten Network at 5 p.m. ET with Dean Linke and Jennie Ritter on the call. The remaining two contests will be streamed on BTN Plus.

RU'S LAST TIME OUT
After picking up a win in the finale at Indiana, Rutgers (9-21, 1-2 Big Ten) made it two victories in a row with an 11-5 triumph over Hofstra on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Shayla Sweeney registered her sixth complete game victory of the season to improve to a record of 8-6 in the circle.
Junior Rebecca Hall notched three hits, including a home run, and led the team with a career-best four RBIs. Hall is tied for second in the conference with 10 home runs and sixth with 32 RBIs. Freshman Taryn Atlee ranks seventh in the league with a .416 batting average and third with 42 hits.
SCOUTING NO. 25 OHIO STATE
After a three-game sweep of Maryland over the weekend, Ohio State (19-7, 3-0 Big Ten) registered a 14-1, five-inning win over Wright State in its home opener on Wednesday.
Lilli Piper garnered Big Ten Player of the Week accolades after hitting .727 against the Terrapins, including a grand slam. Piper sits at sixth with a .420 batting average and fifth with a .750 slugging percentage on the season. Collectively, the OSU pitching crew is averaging a 2.05 team ERA, led by Shelby Hursh with an 8-2 win-loss record and a 1.93 ERA in a team-high 65.1 innings.
SERIES VERSUS THE BUCKEYES
Ohio State has proven victorious in six of the last seven meetings between the programs as conference foes. The Scarlet Knights and Buckeyes most recently met in the 2016 Big Ten Tournament, when No. 11 seed RU fell to No. 6 seed OSU.
