Last Time Out:
The Scarlet Knights placed fifth in the 45-team field at the Colonial Relays hosted by William and Mary. RU was led by a first place finish by the 4x200m relay team of Imani Beauliere, Phyllis Gordon, Oksana Sokolova, and Bria Saunders along with runner-up performances by Rhonda Rogombe in the high jump and Katherine Johnston in the javelin.
Rogombe, who was back in action for the first time this outdoor season after a late indoor season injury, cleared the bar in the high jump at 1.75m (5' 8.75"). Her mark currently places her fourth among her Big Ten peers and eighth among all high jumpers in the East Region.
Johnston, meanwhile, captured her second-straight second place showing in the javelin with a distance of 42.20m (138' 5"). Johnston's throw of 43.26m (141' 11") at the outdoor opener at the USF Bulls Invitational, also a second place performance, ranks her eighth in the Big Ten.
Rutgers also captured another ECAC time in the relays with the 4x400m squad. The team of Sokolova, Saunders, Sarah Robbie and Nabiya Garrett placed fourth at last week's meet.
In the Big Ten:
Rogombe and Johnston are not the only Scarlet Knights currently seeing their names among the conference's top ten.
Bria Saunders, who logged ECAC times with both the 4x200m and 4x400m relays and bumped her distance to the 400m last weekend, is currently fifth in the 200m. She crossed the finish line in 23.89 at the USF Bulls Invitational in mid-March.
Additionally, Sarah Robbie ranks eighth in the 800m thanks to last week's racing. Robbie put together a time of 2:11.59.
Up Next:
Rutgers will play host for the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships for the second-straight year. The meet will be held April 14-15 at the Bauer Track and Field Complex.
