Softball Set for Midweek Doubleheader with Maryland

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers softball team welcomes Maryland for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, May 3. The teams were originally scheduled to meet on Wednesday, April 19 before the matchup was pushed back twice due to weather. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. ET.

RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers (13-33, 4-14 Big Ten) began an eight-game homestand over the weekend with Michigan State, earning a 6-5 walk-off win in the middle contest of the three-game series. Junior Sierra Maddox led RU with a .556 batting average on the weekend, including five hits and the game-winning RBI in the victory.
Freshman Taryn Atlee leads the Big Ten with 63 hits and ranks fifth with a .404 batting average. Junior Rebecca Hall ranks sixth in the league in RBIs (44) and home runs (11), and seventh in slugging percentage (.689).
SCOUTING MARYLAND
Maryland (10-35-1, 3-15 Big Ten) dropped its series with Penn State over the weekend, picking up a 2-1 win in an 11-inning contest in the middle game of the series.
Amanda Brashear leads the lineup with a .314 batting average, including 49 hits, four doubles, and two triples. In the circle, Madison Martin owns a 3.52 ERA in a team-high 145.0 innings pitched and a 6-14 win-loss record.
SERIES VERSUS THE TERRAPINS
Rutgers leads the all-time series with Maryland, 4-2. The Scarlet Knights look to extend a four-game winning streak over the Terps as conference foes.
