Women's T/F Wraps Up Season at NCAA Regional

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Rutgers women's outdoor track and field season came to a close on Friday evening as NCAA Regional action wrapped up with sophomore Rhonda Rogombe in the high jump and junior Bria Saunders in the 200m.
Rogombe placed in a tie for 30th in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 1.69m (5' 6.5").The Charlestown, West Virginia native, who holds the Rutgers indoor high jump record, was making her first regional appearance.
During the 2017 outdoor campaign, Rogombe finished seventh at the Big Ten Championships in the high jump at height of 1.70m (5' 7"). She was also the Metropolitan champion in the event and was the runner-up at the Colonial Relays earlier this season where cleared the bar at a season-best 1.75m (5' 8.75").
Saunders, meanwhile, raced to a time of 23.77 in the first round of the 200m to finish in 38th place. A junior out of Parsippany, New Jersey, she was making her second-straight NCAA Regional appearance in the 200m.
This spring Saunders was a finalist in the 200m at the Big Ten Championships where she finished in seventh with a PR of 23.36. During the season, she won titles at the Metropolitan Championships, as well at the Georgia Tech and USF Invitationals.
