PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Former Scarlet Knight cross country and track & field letterwinner and Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame member Nancy Seeger was named one of top athletes in Roxbury High School history in a poll conducted by NJ Advance Media in late July.
Seeger was NJ Advance Media's top pick for the Roxbury High School "Mount Rushmore", while 92,000 votes cast in the fan poll selected the former Scarlet Knight as the fourth-best athlete to come through Roxbury High School's doors.
Before arriving at Rutgers, Seeger won individual cross country meets for the Iron Conference, Morris County, North II Group III, Group III, the inaugural NJSIAA Meet of Champions and the Eastern Regional Championship. Additionally, she was named the 1977 Runner of the Year by the Daily Record and Dover Advance.
During her time "On The Banks" from 1978-81, Seeger made four national championship appearances, picked up seven EAIAW All-East honors and set the Rutgers 10,000m outdoor record (34:27.56), which still stands today. A cross country AIWA All-American in 1981, Seeger was also named an All-American following her eighth place performance at the 1981 AIAW Indoor Championships in the 5000m.
Following her Rutgers career, Seeger qualified for the 1984 U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon.
