Ruth ('14) Anchors Team USA For Fastest Time Since 1994
BRONX, N.Y. - Former Rutgers women's track and field standout Asha Ruth ('14) set many records during her Scarlet Knight career, but after this weekend she can add "American Record Holder" to the list as she helped Team USA to a new national benchmark in the 4x200m relay this weekend at the Dr. Sander Invitational held at The Armory New Balance Track & Field Center.
Anchoring the squad, Ruth and her Team USA teammates Kyra Jefferson, Deajah Stevens and Daina Harper won the title with an American-best 1:32.67, resetting the former mark of 1:33.24 set back in 1994. The group, which ran for the first time at the Dr. Sander Invitational, was just shy of breaking the word record of 1:32.41 set by Russia in 2005.
In addition to Ruth's success in the relays, which included All-American accolades for performances with the 4x100m and 4x400m relay squads in 2013, she was also a decorated long jumper. Along with capturing three long jump conference titles including gold at the American Indoor Championships in 2014 and the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in 2013 and 2012, Ruth was also an All-American in the event during the 2012 and 2013 outdoor seasons.
Success followed the former Scarlet Knight after her graduation from the State University of New Jersey in 2014. Ruth competed at the 2014 USATF National Club Track & Field Championships winning gold in the 400m and second in the 200m and more recently was a finalist in the 300m at the 2017 USA National Indoors and qualifier in the 400m and 300m.

Ruth's American record joins a long list of accomplishments and notables she achieved while "On The Banks". A four-time All-American, she set nine Rutgers records during her illustrious career, five of which still stand today.Women break 2??4??-year-old American indoor relay record at Dr. Sander Invitational at @ArmoryNYC
