TROY, N.Y. – No. 15 Rutgers wrestling split its matches Saturday afternoon at the Journeymen Duals. The Scarlet Knights defeated Appalachian State, 26-9, and dropped their matchup with Utah Valley, 24-14, with both duals held at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York.

Anthony Ashnault (149), No. 2
Nick Suriano (133) and
Shane Metzler (125) all won both of their bouts on Saturday. Ashnault recorded two bonus-point victories, including his fourth pin in five outings with his last second fall over Matthew Ontiveros (Utah Valley). Ashnault also had a 22-6 tech fall on Jonathan Millner (Appalachian State) to start his impressive performance.
Suriano won by forfeit against the Mountaineers before he recorded a 14-2 major decision over Mitch Brown (Utah Valley) in the second match. Metzler added a major decision against the Wolverines with his 11-3 result over Josh Jensen.
Notables
• Ashnault now leads the team with pins (4) and has totaled 29 dual points for Rutgers in his first five outings.
• Suriano now owns 26 dual points in his first five matches of the season. Together, Suriano and Ashnault have a combined 10-0 record with six pins, two major decision, a tech fall and a forfeit.
• Head coach
Scott Goodale now owns 165 wins during his 12-year career, one behind John Sacchi for the most in program history. Goodale can tie the program mark with a dual win at Hofstra next Friday.
• Ashnault now has 96 wins in his career, tying Tom Wysocki for 18
th all-time. With four wins, Ashnault will become the 17 wrestler in program history to join the 100-win club.

• Rutgers won seven matches against the Mountaineers, including bonus-point victories from Ashnault (fall) and Suriano (forfeit).
• Metzler started the dual at 125 and sparked the lineup with a 7-3 decision over DeAndre Swinson-Barr.

Stephan Glasgow (165) used a last-second takedown to secure a 9-7 decision over Joseph Accousti. It was Glasgow's fourth consecutive win in as many matches.
• After a 5-4 decision from

Jordan Pagano (184) followed with an impressive 9-4 decision over 2018 NCAA qualifier Alan Clothier.
• For the second consecutive match,
Christian Colucci (HWT) appeared in Sudden Victory, this time using a takedown to secure a 3-1 decision over Cary Miller.
