Football Adds Two-Game Series Against Syracuse

Scarlet Knights and Orange to meet in 2020 and 2021

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football has agreed to a home-and-home series against Syracuse, the programs announced today. The Scarlet Knights and Orange will meet in 2020 at High Point Solutions Stadium before playing at Carrier Dome in 2021.

"Returning the Rutgers-Syracuse series, which has a long history will be exciting for both fan bases," said head coach Chris Ash. "With our non-conference schedule, we have focused on adding games that showcase great football in this region."

The programs faced off on the gridiron for 33 consecutive seasons between 1980 and 2012. That included matchups in the Big East starting in 1991 before each joined different conferences. Syracuse leads the all-time series, 30-12-1, but Rutgers has taken six of the last eight meetings. The last game was a 23-15 victory for the Scarlet Knights on Oct. 13, 2012 in Piscataway, while the previous contest in Syracuse was a 19-16 double-overtime RU triumph on Oct. 1, 2011.

The series replaces a previously scheduled home-and-home versus UCLA.
