
Roe Named Union County Outstanding Male Athlete

Former Rutgers pitcher was an Atlantic League All-Star in 2017
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball letterwinner Nate Roe was recently honored with the Chris Zusi Award as outstanding male athlete from Union County at the 82nd annual Hot Stove League Dinner on Feb. 11. The Plainfield, New Jersey, native had a successful season on the mound in 2017 and was traded this offseason back home to the Somerset Patriots.
Roe made the Atlantic League All-Star Game for the New Britain Bees last summer. He finished the season with a 3.63 ERA in 59 games, including five starts. The right-hander pitched 79.1 innings with 60 strikeouts, seven wins and a 1.298 WHIP. Roe previous played in the Canadian-American Association, the American Association and traveled overseas to Australia.
Roe pitched in 61 games for the Scarlet Knights over three seasons (2010-11, 2013). He collected five saves as a senior, including one in the 2013 Big East Tournament with the tying run on second base to advance the team to the semifinals. His 26 games worked in 2010 rank tied for ninth-most in a season in program history.
