Former Rutgers Track & Field and Cross Country Standout Kathryn Tappen To Serve as Hockey Studio Host

Tappen, a 2003 graduate originally from Morristown, New Jersey, was a four-time Academic All-American and Big East Academic All-Star for the Scarlet Knights. During her career, she had set a school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
The former Scarlet Knight has served as a team reporter for Pro Football Talk during NBC's Super Bowl XLIX coverage, as well as NBC Sports Group's coverage of NHL Live, NHL Overtime, Notre Dame Football and Football Night in America
Prior to joining NBC Sports Group, Tappen worked for the NHL Network as host of NHL Tonight, the network's nightly highlight show. Tappen also spent five years with the New England Sports Network, where she was the lead studio host for the network's coverage of Boston Bruins games. In addition, Tappen was a weekend anchor and weekday sports reporter at NBC affiliate, WJAR in Providence, Rhode Island and began her career in 2003 at College Sports Television.
In 2006, Tappen earned an Associated Press award for her sports feature "Swim Meet." Her feature reporting has also been nominated for two Boston/New England Emmy Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
