
Stoppa & Walkowiak Compete on Day 2 of NCAA Swim & Dive Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio (March 16, 2018) – Rutgers swimming and diving sent two Scarlet Knights to the preliminaries on Friday at the NCAA Championships at Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Center.
Senior diver Addison Walkowiak placed 24th in the nation in 3-meter diving with her score of 304.95 in the preliminary round. The Top 16 moved on to consolation and championship finals. On Thursday, Walkowiak earned her first career All-America Honorable Mention nod and first-ever All-America honor for Rutgers diving on the 1-meter boards with an 11th place national finish.
Walkowiak will conclude her championship run on Saturday in platform diving with the prelims set for 12:15 p.m. alongside junior teammate Rachel Byrne.
Junior Francesca Stoppa, making her third appearance at the NCAA meet, began her championship push in the 100-yard butterfly on Friday morning. With a time of 54.32, she placed 49th in the nation.
Stoppa will be back in action on Saturday morning for the 200-yard butterfly preliminaries.
All four Scarlet Knights will compete on Day 3 with Walkowiak and Byrne on platform diving, Stoppa in the 200 Fly and freshman Sveva Schiazzano in the 1,650-yard freestyle at 3:45 p.m.
