Indoor Season Comes To A Close With ECAC Championships

Bryanna Grant Runner-Up in Triple Jump; Oniesha Clarkes Takes Fourth in Long Jump; Ariel Strunkey Places Fifth in 200m
BOSTON, Mass. – Fifth-year senior Bryanna Grant was the runner-up in the triple jump, junior Oniesha Clarke landed in fourth in the long jump and junior Ariel Strunkey raced to a fifth place finish in the 200m to highlight the Rutgers women's track and field appearance at the 2018 ECAC Indoor Championships.
Grant reached a season-best distance of 12.59m (41' 3.75") on her sixth and final jump of the afternoon in her second place finish.
Also in the jumps, junior Clarke placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.70m (18' 8.5").
Clarke also raced in the 60m preliminaries and semifinals, but was scratched from the finals. In the semifinals, she placed second with a time of 7.48.
Rutgers also saw scoring from Ariel Strunkey in the 200m. The junior Scarlet Knight placed fifth in the race behind a PR of 24.41.
The Scarlet Knights also saw two PR's in the 5000m by freshman Olympia Martin (16:49.19) in her fifth place performance, as well as sophomore Nadia Saponara (17:20.22).
Senior Sarah Robbie, meanwhile, collected a season-best time of 1:11.46 in the 800m.
The Rutgers women's indoor track and field team finished the competition tied for 14th in the 44 team field.
The Scarlet Knights return to action opening the outdoor season on Mar. 16-17 at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia.
