Apr 20 | Women's Golf
MAINEVILLE, Ohio - Women's golf is 14th with a 312 total after the opening round of the 2018 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships, played Friday at TPC River's Bend. Sophomore Carrie-Ann Lee and freshman Harriet Allsebrook led the Scarlet Knights on day one with four-over, 76 efforts to enter Saturday's second round tied for 41st in the 84-player field.
"Harriet and Carrie-Ann played some great golf for us today," said head coach Kari Williams. "Harriet made several birdies down the stretch to turn in a hard-earned 76 and Carrie Ann was steady throughout the day. We have a few teams within reach and will have to work hard on moving day."
Rutgers counted nine birdies and 45 pars versus a field consisting of six programs ranked among the Golfweek Top 50. Lee was one-under on par threes, while Allsebrook was two-under on par five holes with five birdies on Friday.
Senior Emily Mills, redshirt junior Ashleigh Greenham, sophomores Ana Cortes, and freshman Lori Char complete the RU scorecard on the par 72, 6,357-yard course. Greenham is tied for 63rd with a 79, Mills is tied for 71st with an 81, Cortes is tied for 73rd with an 82 and Char is tied for 82nd with an 86. Fourteen of the top 20 individual finishers from last season's Championships have returned to compete on the Arnold Palmer-designed course.

The Scarlet Knights trail Penn State (309) by three strokes and are 10 strokes behind 12th place Minnesota (302) with 36 holes to play.
