Cortes Earns Sportsmanship Award

PISCATAWAY - The Big Ten Conference office announced its women's golf postseason honors on Tuesday and Rutgers sophomore Ana Cortes was selected as a Sportsmanship Award recipient.
Cortes competed in seven tournaments for the Scarlet Knights in 2017-18. She earned a top 25 finish at the Rutgers Invitational in September and carded an opening-round 70 at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic earlier this month. Overall, the Bogota, Colombia, product played 20 rounds this past season and had a 79.1 stroke average.
A Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division I All-America Scholar as a freshman in 2016-17, Cortes is an active participant in Rutgers Leadership Academy community service initiatives. A pre-business major, she is one of six student-athletes on the roster that hailed from outside the contiguous United States.
The Scarlet Knights completed their season this past weekend at the 2018 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio. BTN will debut coverage of the Championships on Monday, April 30, at 5 p.m. ET.
