PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Oniesha Clarke leapt to a new PR in the long jump and freshman Kiera Nealon finished first in the unseeded section of the 5000m to lead the Rutgers women's outdoor track and field team at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton on Friday.
Originally a two-day meet, all events were contested on Friday due to impending weather.
Clarke placed first in the long jump at a distance of 6.07m (19' 11") surpassing her previous best of 5.90m (19' 4.25") in capturing the 2018 Metropolitan Championship indoor crown.
Nealon, meanwhile, set the pace in the unseeded section of the 5000m and took off nearly 12 seconds from her last appearance in the event at the season opener at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. She claimed first place in a time of 17:38.00.
In the same race, senior Alexandra Juzwiak also registered a new PR of 17:47.73 to take fourth.
